Christ Church Ottershaw

Music

Music can be experienced and appreciated through the differing activities of listening, singing, the playing of musical instruments and of composition. Singing is the most natural form of music making and as well as providing uplifting experiences it can also be immensely healing. Music is vital to us as human beings as it enables us to reach up to God at a much deeper level.

At Christ Church we are fortunate to have two music groups, the Choir and the Music Group to lead congregational singing.

The Choir sings for three Sunday morning services each month, for a monthly Choral Evensong, for weekday services such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and for most weddings and the occasional funeral. In addition to rehearsing congregational items for worship, the members prepare and learn specially selected music to sing at special occasions such as the Service of Readings and Music at Christmas, and external choir festivals. The Choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.

The Music Group leads the worship at two morning services each month, and a monthly informal evening service. A practice is held on the fourth Thursday of each month, at 7pm in the Church, and any singers or instrumentalists are welcome to come and practice music for the service and learn songs together.

We always welcome new members to help lead our services and draw us closer in worship to God. If you sing, or play an instrument, please contact:
