Safeguarding
at
Christ Church

At Christ Church, we believe that every person is created in God’s image—worthy of dignity, respect, compassion, and care. We are committed to ensuring that our church is a safe place for all who worship, visit, volunteer, or take part in church activities.

Safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and adults is a shared responsibility, and we take this calling seriously. No one should ever experience harm or abuse. We work to prevent abuse from happening and to respond promptly, appropriately, and with compassion if concerns arise.  We follow the Diocese of Guildford’s Safeguarding Policy and Guidance and Promoting a Safer Church: The Church of England’s Safeguarding Policy for children, young people and adults.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to:

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture

  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to children, young people and vulnerable adults within the Church

  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation

  • Caring pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons

  • Caring pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons

  • Responding to those that may pose a present risk to others.
